The 20th Anniversary for the Establishment of Taipei City Fire Department:
The mayor Mr. Ko will officially award the people for their great efforts.
The celebration ceremony of the 20th anniversary for the establishment of Taipei City Fire Department is going to be held on the 10th floor in the main building at 16:00 o’clock on 20th July. The mayor of Taipei, Mr. Ko, is going to host the ceremony and award 132 representative of municipal merit group and fire fighters for their great efforts.
Since Taipei City Fire Department was established in 1995, we have been through many rescue events and natural disasters like the 921 earthquake (1999), typhoon Nari (2001), the 331 earthquake (2002), and SARS (2003), and also provided international rescue assistance in El Salvador, Iran, Haiti, Japan, and China. Moreover, the event of TransAsia Airways Flight 235 was the only one case in the history that all victims were founded after the flight crashed in the river. It is also worth to mention that, according to the statistics from June 1999 to June 2015, there has been 555 Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest patients who got healthily recovered since Golden Phoenix Dedicated EMS Team was founded. All these achievements are completed by all fire fighters’ unconditional efforts in order to provide the citizens a safe city.
The resources from the government are limited, and therefore we have to thank many volunteer group and individual for their unselfish contributions, including: 27 of the phoenix volunteer group members who always assist in rescue, Ciyou temple and Jiao Xiu temple who donated numbers of ambulances and fire alarm devices, Mr. Shi-Feng Luo who has gained Golden Melody Awards as the best Hokkien male singer and participates in the film promotion for the fire alarm device as the advertising endorser of Taipei City Fire Department for this year. The mayor of Taipei, Mr. Ko, will officially appreciate all the people and groups mentioned above for their respectable kindness and spirit in the ceremony.
Besides, during the 20th anniversary celebration, the commissioner of Taipei City Department, Mr. Wu, led chiefs of all divisions to the area in Fire Safety Museum in memory of the martyrs (12 fire fighters, 3 volunteer firemen, and 1 substitute military service draftee) who sacrificed on duty, and represented the department to express the deepest sadness and gratefulness.
For the future, Taipei Fire Department will make concentrated efforts in promoting the fire alarm device especially in citizens’ living house, digitizing the rescue record, drawing up and refining the command center and bus in the disaster zone, and refining the payment system of the ambulance service in order to build a safe disaster-free environment and provide a better service quality for citizens. The mayor of Taipei, Mr. Ko, appeals that Taipei city will become a real country with love and care only when we do not waste the medical and emergency resources and abuse the ambulance service.
