Safety precautions before Typhoon Goni from the Taipei City Fire Department.

This year’s (2015) No. 15 typhoon GONI is still moving towards Taiwan. Taipei City Government Fire Department reminds people to take necessary precautions against typhoon. Fire Department will continue to focus on GONI’s movement and take necessary precautions against it.
In response to the typhoon, the Fire Department reminds people to be aware of home environment and take precautions as below─If you receive evacuation notice from the city government; you should evacuate quickly and coordinate with the city government.
─Site fences, scaffolding, billboards and advertising signs should be checked, removed or nailed to avoid being blown off by strong wind and cause harm.
─All doors and windows should be examined and repaired. Bonsai should be moved indoor. Flowers and trees should be protected with stand protection. Other items should be strengthened to avoid being blown off and hurt people.
─If you find that rainwater sewer lateral groove requires dredging, roadside trees need to be addressed, one option is to clean it on your own or the other option is to call the hotline at 1999.
─If you live in low-lying areas, hillside areas, or work by rivers, you should take precautions to heavy rain, landslides, mudslides, and evacuate early.
─You should prepare radio, flashlight, first aid kit, drinking water, food and daily necessities at home.
─You should pre-check the circuit, ingle, gas pipelines, and pay attention while using ingle in order to avoid fire.
─You should not go out if not necessary to prevent being wounded by falling objects during the typhoon. You should avoid using candles during power outage. If there is a need of it, you should take adequate precautions to avoid fire.
─Drop wires cannot be touched by hands to prevent shock. And you should be calling 119,110 or 1999 immediately in order to notify the power company to repair.
─To ensure safety of temporary residence, you shall install automatic water pump in the basement and gates or sandbags at the entrance.
─You should prepare personal emergency shelter kits, including mineral water, instant noodles, biscuits and other food, photocopy documents, some cash, commonly used drugs, thick cotton gloves, flashlights, radios, batteries, warm clothing, blankets, small lightweight raincoat, warming bags, facial tissue, towels, paper and pen, spare keys, Swiss knife and other emergency items at home or workplace.

You can also apply to receive hydrological information services by SMS or Line access to relevant information.
─During the typhoon, you can call "1999", "119" or "110" when in need of emergency assistance.
