Walking Together with Youthful Energy, Fostering Inclusion with Our Seniors 2024 Youth and Seniors Inclusive Sports Day and Disaster Prevention Advocacy Charity Fair

The 2nd District HQs of Taipei City Fire Department, in collaboration with the Rain Spring Charitable Foundation, will host the "Youth and Seniors Inclusive Sports Day and Disaster Prevention Advocacy Charity Fair" on Sunday, October 13, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at National Taipei University of Education. The event invites citizens to participate, encouraging senior citizens to step out of their homes and fostering interactions between young people, children, and the elderly. Through these activities, participants will gain a better understanding of different generations' experiences, cultures, values, and needs, helping to bridge the gap between age groups.

This event will feature a wide variety of exciting activities, with a special focus on disaster prevention and charity. The disaster prevention booths will include interactive stations such as the "Smoke Simulation Experience," "Rescue Skills Challenge," "Fire Safety Expert 1216," and "Electrical Safety." These engaging activities are designed for both adults and children to learn and have fun together. Through disaster prevention quizzes and games, firefighters aim to deepen participants' awareness of disaster preparedness. Everyone is encouraged to join and participate enthusiastically!

For many years, the fire department has been continuously innovating, creating various disaster preparedness e-books to provide citizens with learning materials on disaster prevention. These include the "Disaster Preparedness Taipei" manual, as well as easy-to-read booklets such as "What to Do When an Earthquake Strikes," "What to Do When a Typhoon Strikes," "What to Do When a Fire Breaks Out (Fire Prevention Guide)," and "What to Do When a Fire Breaks Out (Evacuation and Escape Guide)." Everyone is encouraged to download these materials during this event to collectively raise awareness and create a safer community for disaster prevention among the public.

In addition, due to the fact that lithium batteries have become the mainstream of power storage devices in recent years, such as mobile devices, electronic products, and electric vehicles, the usage rate has increased significantly. Therefore, Taipei City Fire Department specifically reminds that lithium battery products should be purchased with a qualified inspection label, and used safely according to product instructions to avoid excessive charging and discharging, impact, or compression, in order to ensure safety.

Under the leadership of the Mayor, Taipei City has achieved outstanding governance results. In the "2024 County and City Overall and Sustainable Competitiveness Survey" released by Global Views Monthly, Taipei City won 7 championships, taking the overall top spot in Taiwan. In the sub-category rankings, Taipei City ranked first among the special municipalities in "Public Safety and Firefighting" and "Medical and Health Services." Notably, Taipei City showed the most improvement in "Public Safety and Firefighting" compared to last year, earning it the title of the "City of Premier Competitiveness." Looking ahead, the Taipei City Government will continue to advance towards the vision of a "Sustainable and Inclusive Hope Capital." We warmly invite citizens to join hands over the weekend, participate in this high-quality social service event, and work together to promote Taipei as a "City of Sports, Safety, and the Future."
