Taipei City Fire Department

On June 10^th (Monday) 9:00 a.m., Taipei City Fire Department Commissioner Wu Chun-Hong hosted the opening ceremony for the 10^th Taipei City Urban Search and Rescue Training at the Fire Department Training Center.
 
Commissioner Wu pointed out that there were 30 firefighters participating in the training, all of whom were qualified through Technical Rescue training. 6 weeks of professional training started from June 10^th to July 19^th. Focusing on realistic emergency situations, the training included search skills, rescue, communication equipment operation, confined space medical treatment, search dog introduction, collapsed building support, heavy object movement, swift water rescue and rope techniques. Participants would need to pass a 24 hour rescue simulation drill to complete the training. Rigorous training from professional instructors would better enhance the Taipei City Urban Search and Rescue Team ability to protect the lives and property of the people.
 
Taipei City Urban Search and Rescue Team, founded in 2000, have grown to 201 members including 60 from Volunteer Firefighter Rescue Team in 19 years. They are separated into six divisions including command, search, rescue, medical, engineer and logistics divisions. Until now, the team has carried out numerous rescue missions abroad including Salvador earthquake, Iran earthquake, Indonesia tsunami, China Shichuan earthquake, Haiti earthquake, and Japan March 11^th earthquake. Similarly, they conducted multiple domestic missions including rescue mission at Hualien South Erzi Mountain, tour bus crash at Freeway No.5, 0206 Tainan and Hualien earthquake and TransAsia Flight Crash. The Taipei City Urban Search and Rescue Team could be reputed to be the most functionally complete and experienced domestic rescue team.
