Continue to enhance the ability of Disaster Prevention and Rescue & Promote Taiwan’s Disaster Prevention Diplomacy Taipei City Fire Department signed the cooperation agreement memorandum with England’s Coventry University agreement

On Monday, May 22, 2017, at 11am, Taipei City Fire Department signed the cooperation agreement memorandum with England’s Coventry University in Taipei City Emergency Operation Center. Both Taipei city fire department and Coventry University anticipate to seeing enhancement in disaster prevention ability and reinforcing disaster prevention diplomacy. By signing the agreement, we can build solid interacting relationship with countries in Europe and also integrate Taiwan’s disaster prevention concepts and skills on an international vision.
Taipei City Fire Department says that Coventry University has significant success in the study of Earth Science and environmental science. They analyze the risk of disaster from multiple fields comprehensively. Their studies in disaster risk management, emergency operations and neighborhood disaster prevention are considered as top academic institution within England and Europe. During their visit this time, we not only introduced Taipei city’s soft/hardware resources and disaster planning but also exchanged relatable knowledge of disaster prevention. Besides, the commissioner of Taipei city Fire Department Wu Chun-Hong cosigned the cooperation memorandum with the representative of Coventry University Chen Yong Feng. We both hope to construct a long-term relationship that can contribute to cooperation in disaster education and practice training together with experience sharing.
Taipei City Fire Department points out that Coventry University’s visit (29 people) will end at the end of May. After their visit, there are two students from Coventry University staying for another two weeks in Disaster Prevention and Rescue office, Training Center and Fire station. We hope this two weeks internship is valuable for building up their practical experience in Disaster Management. Moreover, both Taipei city Fire Department and England anticipate improving our Disaster management capability and understanding England’s Disaster Prevention Theory with Executing Mechanism through the arrangement of this internship.
