Taipei City participates Tokyo Disaster Management Drill

Taipei City participates Tokyo Disaster Management Drill
to reinforce the transnational support system and improve the international rescue abilities
It has been the 9th year that Taipei City Urban Search and Rescue Team has been invited to “Comprehensive Disaster Management Drill in Tachikawa 2015” by Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Therefore, the section chief of Taipei Fire Department, Guang-Ting Ciou, is leading 6 members to Tokyo on 28th August.
For reinforcing the transnational cooperation to respond large-scale disasters, improving the rescue abilities, and ensuring the support system, Tokyo Metropolitan Government has invited Taipei City Urban Search and Rescue Team, through “Network for Crisis Management” of major cities in Asia, to the disaster drill for 9 years.
In the drill of the year, a simulated earthquake will hit Tokyo, and therefore Tokyo Metropolis Government will ask Taipei City Urban Search and Rescue Team for assistance through Network for Crisis Management. During the drill, our members will use life locators to search if there are any people surviving in the collapsed buildings, rescue the trapped people by destroying tools and abseiling rescue techniques, and cooperate with local rescue units to complete the mission. We believe Taipei City Government will show its great abilities to provide humanitarian aid through this drill, and learn a lot from other countries’ rescue team as well.
