Chifeng Lawn Music Festival Chilling at the Community Disaster Prevention and Safety Event

With the scorching summer faded away and the weather getting cooler, it's perfect time for a fun and educational family outing. On October 14, 2023 (Saturday) from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at Taipei's JianCheng Park(next to No. 33, Sec. 2, Chengde Road, Datong District), the Taipei City Fire Department's Fourth District HQ in collaboration with the Chifeng Sustainable Development Association will jointly host the carnival, " Chifeng Lawn Music Festival, chilling at the Community Disaster Prevention and Safety Event" . This event allows you to experience the cultural vibes of the Chifeng business district, and learn about disaster prevention in a relaxed and chilling atmosphere.

In addition to exciting stage performances, quizzes with prizes, and outdoor yoga on the lawn, this event also features a disaster preparedness experience zone. There are plenty of activities for the public, including "CPR Experience", "Water Safety Experience", "Junior Firefighter Training", "Residential Fire Alarms", "Fire Safety", and "Electrical Safety". Additionally, there will be a "Fire Prevention Vehicle" and an "Earthquake Experience Vehicle", allowing people to operate fire extinguishers and experience the shaking of a magnitude 7 earthquake firsthand.

According to statistics from the Taipei City Fire Department, a total of 666 fires occurred in Taipei from January to June in 2023. The dominant cause of home fires is cooking fire (a total of 234 fires accounting for 35.1%), followed by electrical factors (a total of 187 fires accounting for 28.1%).

While the winter is coming, the Taipei City Fire Department appeals to the public to pay attention to fire safety at home. When using electrical equipment, we must follow the six principles below:

1. Never overload an extension lead by plugging in appliances that will exceed the maximum current rating of the extension lead.

2. Avoid using bundled or damaged electrical wires.

3. Unplug electrical devices when not in use.

4. Avoid using damp or defaced plugs.

5. Keep combustibles away from electrical appliances.

6. Do not purchase or use products that are lack of safety labels.

Nevertheless, it's important to practice the concept of "turn off the stove when leaving" when cooking to enhance home fire safety.

Everyone is welcome to join the event with their families. Through this carnival and experiences, we hope citizens to temporarily step away from our digital lifestyles. We aim to instill the correct disaster prevention concepts into people's daily lives through this educational and entertaining experience.
