The Taipei City Fire Department and the National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior jointly organized the "2023 Terror Disaster (CBRNE) Emergency Response and Preparation Japan-Taiwan Exchange Conference" at the International Conference Hall of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications on June 12, 2023. The conference aimed to strengthen the cooperation and exchange between Taiwan and Japan in the field of special disaster rescue and emergency medical services, further enhancing Taiwan's disaster response and rescue capabilities.

The Taipei City Fire Department pointed out that the conference received significant attention and active participation from various sectors. Representatives from important organizations such as the Ministry of National Defense, Taipei City Police Department, Taiwan Society of Emergency Medicine, and Taiwan Association of EMS Physicians, as well as fire departments of municipalities, counties (cities), and medical professionals were invited to attend. Notably, Professor Yoshihiro Yamaguchi, Director of Advanced Critical Care Center, Kyorin University School of Medicine, and former Director of the Tokyo Fire Department, Katsumi Ito, were also invited from Japan. Through the participation of experts from different fields, the symposium provided a platform to share professional knowledge and experiences in special disaster rescue and emergency medical services.

The Taipei City Fire Department stated that Taipei City, as the capital and a leading city, possesses abundant medical resources and outstanding talents. In the field of emergency medical assistance, Taipei has continuously pursued excellence and led the nation, pioneering new pre-hospital emergency care. The numerous achievements have deeply impressed and been recognized by the citizens. However, in the era of globalization and constant change, special disaster response and emergency medical assistance have surpassed national and regional boundaries, becoming a global challenge. Therefore, through this event, it is hoped that the awareness of cross-domain coordination and cooperation among government agencies will be enhanced. With the spirit of " The stone from another mountain can help to polish jade," it is expected that today's exchange and discussions can inspire the development of methods to cope with special disasters. This will further enhance the emergency medical system in Taipei City, ensuring the safety of people's lives and properties, and continuously strengthening the partnership between Taiwan and Japan in the field of disaster response and emergency medical assistance, collectively creating a safer society for the public.
