Take care to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning during cold temperatures

The weather forecast from the Central Weather Bureau(CWB) shows a cold front will pass through and bring freezing temperatures to the south. To stay warm and safe during these low temperatures, it is crucial to preserve heat and pay attention to indoor ventilation and electricity safety when using gas water heaters and electric heaters.

According to the statistics of Taipei City in recent years, most carbon monoxide poisoning cases are caused by improper installation of gas water heaters, combined with closed doors and windows due to low temperatures and poor ventilation in the environment.

Taipei City Fire Department urge that when using gas equipment (such as gas water heaters and gas stoves) at home, it is important to open the windows and ensure good ventilation to prevent incomplete combustion or carbon monoxide poisoning occurring under poor ventilation.
