The department is under the Taipei City Government and is a first-level agency of the city government, with the following positions: Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Secretary, Specialist Commissioners, and Senior Technical Officers. It consists of 9 divisions, 5 offices, 2 centers, and 6 disaster rescue squadrons.
